Scanning settings

This page lists every scanning option with its default. For how each one feels in use, follow the link beside it.

Everything below is saved as soon as you choose it. Apart from the on/off box, the options are greyed out until scanning is on.

Turn scanning on

Enable scanning for this site. Off by default. Until it is on, the Scan buttons and scanner pages don't appear. See Scanning.

Stock-in commit mode

How scans are saved when stock goes in. Default: Batch.

Option	What happens
Batch (review cart before saving)	Every scan goes to a cart. Check it, fill in any missing expiry, then save.
One-shot (save each scan immediately)	Each scan is saved straight away. A barcode with no expiry asks for the date first.
Hybrid (one-shot when GS1 expiry present)	Scans with an expiry in the barcode save straight away. The rest go to the cart.

Repeat scans

What happens when the same barcode, with the same lot and expiry, is scanned again on the same scan screen. Default: Warn. Audits always count repeats, and items with a serial number are never counted twice.

Option	What happens
Warn	The repeat is counted and shows "Same as earlier scan" with Undo.
Ask first	The repeat isn't counted until someone taps "Add another".
Off	Every scan counts, without comment.

Box barcodes

What a scan of a box barcode adds. Applies to barcodes marked as a box of several units, set under Barcodes or filled in from the FDA database. Default: Add each unit in the box.

Option	What happens
Add each unit in the box	A box of 5 adds 5 units. Scanning the box out uses 1 unit.
Add the box as one unit	The box itself is tracked. One scan adds or uses one item.

Label reading

When a scan has no product match, or no expiry or lot, the camera can read the printed label and fill in what it finds. Default: Fill in and flag.

Option	What happens
Fill in and flag	Fills in lot, expiry and REF, marked "From label · check". Saving works as usual.
Ask to check uncertain values	Values read from the barcode text on the label fill in as usual. Anything else needs "Looks right" before saving.
Ask to check every value	Every value read needs "Looks right", or an edit, before saving.
Off	Labels aren't read. Type lot and expiry by hand.
